The Eighth
Ichikawa Shinnosuke

The eldest son of the Naritaya house, who took his name on the same stage as his father.
The eldest son of Ichikawa Danjūrō XIII. In November 2022, on the same Kabukiza stage where his father became Danjūrō, he took the name Ichikawa Shinnosuke VIII. Since then he has continued his training while taking on major classical roles.
Father and son continue to share the stage — in the touring programme 'The Road of Inheritance' and the special performances at Kyoto's Minamiza. The aragoto forms are being received by the youngest body in the line.
What They Inherit
'Shinnosuke' is the name with which young generations of the Danjūrō line begin their path — his father, too, started out as Shinnosuke VII.
